The manual transition spacing test

Import the final masters of both tracks into your DAW.

Place the second track immediately after the first, leaving a static two-second gap of silence.

Listen to the transition, focusing on the change in tempo and energy.

Adjust the gap. If the first song ends with a long reverb tail, overlap the start of the second song with the tail, or extend the silence to four seconds to let the energy clear.

Play the transition again.
The transition should feel natural, and the level difference should sound intentional. Adjusting the spacing to match the tempo of the songs helps the project flow smoothly.
