The mechanics of translation

Export a raw mix of your song.

Load the mix onto your mobile phone and play it through the built-in speaker.

Listen to the same mix in a car, then on standard consumer earbuds.

Note down the differences in balance. Write down which frequencies sound harsh or muddy on each system.

Return to your DAW and make tiny, broad EQ adjustments on the master bus (cuts or boosts of no more than one decibel) to address these issues.
Observe how these small changes affect translation. If you cut a small amount of muddy low-midrange, the vocal will sound clearer on the phone speaker and the bass will sound tighter in the car.
